MEET HEATHER FRANKLIN
Heather Franklin is a mother of six, a Biostatistician at OHSU and a current David Douglas School Board member.
Heather’s children include graduates, current and future David Douglas Students. As a district parent, Heather has served on family leadership team, site council and has volunteered at school-based food pantries. Through a range of advocacy efforts and various community involvements, Heather has learned from other parents/caregivers, teachers and community partners. Her motivation is to effect change for the children of our district, with intentional focus on those whom our educational system underserves. Her perspectives and priorities for leadership are informed by her experiences advocating for children with a variety of needs and lived experiences.
Heather is a data-driven public health care professional with a background in evaluating population-based inequities and disparities. As a Biostatistician at OHSU, she works collaboratively with teams of researchers and vested partners to ask thoughtful questions, seek expertise and interrogate data in order to identify actionable areas of improvement. Prior employment includes: Mathematics/Statistics Instructor, Analyst and Statistical Consultant. Heather holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
She feels a deep responsibility to use what she has learned at the individual-level to look upstream at budgetary and policy-level oversight. Her aim has been and continues to be, to identify and advocate for areas of needed actionable change and/or improvement at the district policy-level and work collaboratively to respond accordingly.
Heather has cherished the opportunity to serve with an outstanding group of colleagues. She hopes to continue serving in Position 6 and asks for your vote in the May 2025 election.
